Our third stop was to the island of St. Lucia. We had an excursion here to go to the rain forest and do a zip line. Getting off the ship and taking our bus up to the rain forest, was rather different than our other stops thus far. It was a bit more grimy-looking. But luckily, the rain forest did not disappoint. It was amazing! We were super excited to be doing a zip line. I had never done one before, not even at Snowbird (I am always watching my kids who don't weight enough to go on it yet). Our first task was to get geared up. They had us wear hair covers under our helmets, which I was grateful for, but still the straps stunk on the helmet. We also had to put on the harness and some gloves. Then they took us to a practice line. I was listening pretty intensely about the proper form and how to not lose a finger/hand. But after a few lines we weren't doing much proper form, just having a blast. The one thing that freaked me out was close to the end of our adventure we zipped over to a platform. Well at this platform there was no line to another platform, only a line going down to the ground. We had to get hooked up, one at a time, hang over the hole in the platform, and then free fall 60 feet down, where a worker somehow stopped us all. Scary as heck, but afterwards thought it was quite the thrill. This was another top contender for the best thing about our cruise.
