Every year we drive to Utah to spend time with our families. But this year we decided use that time to see some new things! We made our way to Utah via Mt. Rushmore and Yellowstone. Mt. Rushmore is somewhere that Dave or I had never been to before and were excited to see. We found it to be a beautiful part of the country and found the weather to be fantastic (way cooler that we had been used to). We woke up bright and early one day and drove the 6 or so hours up there. Before we went to the monument we first drove over to Crazy Horse. We thought this was pretty cool and was happy to discover it was free for military members! The visitor center explained how the work is progressing and we also saw how it will end up looking when it is completed (who knows when).

Our second stop was to an attraction called The Cosmos. There really are endless attractions to do in this area - but Dave wanted to check this one out. At the place a tour guide took us to a cabin that had "unnatural" powers where gravity supposedly did not follow the same rules. It was fun and interesting.

It was difficult to stand but even more difficult to walk around the cabin.
Then it was on to see Mr. Rushmore. My first impression of it was complete awe. It is a beautiful monument. I also was surprised to see a pathway of state flags leading up to the best vantage point. We enjoyed finding Nebraska's as well as Utah's flag there. We would have loved to have spent more time in the museum and also walking the trails around it, but unfortunately our kids (mainly Makenna) were getting grumpy/rowdy:(
