July 4th

We arrived in Utah on the 3rd of July - just in time to spend the 4th with family. We started the day's celebrations by going to my parent's neighborhood annual 4th of July breakfast. It is always fun seeing people that I knew growing up and who I looked up to. We ate some yummy egg casseroles, fruit and muffins.

Soon after we went to the Taylorsville Pool, despite threatening clouds. Because of the weather we practically had the entire pool to ourselves. We ate a picnic lunch there and shortly after the sun came out to stay. It was amazing to me how quickly Hayden and Tanner got comfortable in the water (this was their first pool time all summer). Maren took quite a bit longer. She didn't want to get wet at all or go anywhere near the water at first. But I grabbed her and took her in the pool. Boy, did she hold tight to me. She wouldn't let go and wouldn't go to anyone else as well.

The evening included a BBQ at Jill and Cade's house (my sister and brother-in-law). They hold one every year and it was fun to attend. They have a very fun backyard for the kids to play in and also back up to a canal that the boys and Dave were able to take a canoe ride in. The food was scrumptious and so was the homemade rocky road ice cream...yumm! Fireworks were then watched at the Riverton park. It was a wonderful day!
